Ephesians 3:20

God does everything with excellence; he does not do anything lukewarm or mediocre.  We all want things exceedingly beyond the harvest in our lives. However, we do not want to be the one that goes the extra mile to achieve it. We all want God’s promises although just few of us are willing to pay the price to get God’s promises. In addition, when we do something is only because we want to get something in return.

What about doing what is right because the bible said so. What about do everything with excellence with the purpose of glorifying the name of God and because we love him, therefore we want to please him. We should do things because God told us and not because we will get something out of it.   We will get the benefits doing what is right because it is God’s promise, but we have to be very careful with our motives. If we try to do always to get something from God I don’t think our motives are right, its seems for me selfish and self centered. I like to call “all about me disease”

 2 Peter 1:3

We are called to be people of excellence because our father is a God of excellence. We are representing Jesus on this earth so we have to be careful the way we live for we have the power to push people away from God. We end up cooperating with the enemy because of our lack of determination and commitment.

We can look at the life of Daniel as an example. Daniel was a great man of God; some of you know the history. Daniel and some young men were taken captive into the king’s court to be trained to serve the king. The king had prepared a special diet for them to eat which had allot of different meat. Daniel knew that the Jewish law forbade many of those meats provided for the king’s table. Daniel had made a commitment with God to have a certain diet and did not eat anything consecrated to idol. It was something between Daniel and God which amazes me because he did not even thought about rationalize or even  compromise, he could of made an excuse. Saying like “you know Lord, now I have to break my commitment because they going to kill me if I don’t, I love you and I know you understand the situation I am in ”.  Instead Daniel said “NO”. He was a man of integrity.

Its very sad today to see people are not concerned to keep their words and theirs commitment, not to God, not to other people and sometimes not even to themselves. Why doesn’t marriage last long in these days? It is because they make promises and they forget that above all things these promises were first made to God.  We have to be more committed, sometimes i believe we live too shallow. If we want to grow spiritually, we have to start doing what we have to do regardless if we are going to be inconvenient or not. People that are not keeping their words are ruining not just their reputation but of all of us Christians.

John 13:17

I love this scripture because It doesn’t say, God will bless us for going to the church many times a week or even for reading the bible, he says doers of His words. Are you a reliable person? Can people trust you? What about your family?  Don’t make promises you know you can’t keep. Before making any promises, make sure you are capable of keeping it to the end. If you see yourself not being able to deliver the promise, let the other person know you will do your best to meet it.  Work hard to fulfill your words. If you promise to someone or yourself, do everything in your power to keep it. If you are not able to hold it perfectly as promised, try to get most of it done, then ask for forgiveness for not accomplishing it as best as you have promised. Believe in yourself. Have faith that you are capable enough to keep your word. This way you will get confidence  and control over yourself and your promises. Respect the words you have promised. You need to respect every promise you made and show commitment to making it come true. If you cannot respect the promise, you will be half-hearted in fulfilling it, and your promise is good as dead. Don’t break your promises. Others will judge your credibility on how good you are with your word. Broken promises will hurt your image as a believer, especially if you make so many of them. Deliver results and many will follow your example.

My dad used to tell me that a man or a woman, without his or her word is nothing. You have no doubt heard this expression in a variety of ways and permutations, but you probably never gave it any thought. Well, if you love and want to please God in this life, you should.

I just want to say to those who are parent, being a Reliable Parent is not about being perfect, its not about disappointing our children. It is all to do with the child knowing that whatever the situation they can rely on you because you are a real man or woman of God.
